[AUUG-Talk]: Conference comments, anyone?

Part of the reason for that is that the people who used to keep the 
Lions award going have shifted a lot of focus to endowing "the John 
Lions chair in Operating Systems" at UNSW instead; this position is 
now being advertised after the effort started just before the 
dot-bomb. But the funding is not yet self-sustaining, further 
contributions are needed. USENIX has offered to match donations $-$ 
from its members (and I'll go out on a limb and say that the spirit 
of the decision is such that they'd probably match donations from 
AUUG members as well).

Perhaps AUUG should roll the funds used for the Lions award over to 
that effort? Or revitalise it by actually finding deserving 
recipients, but having been on that committee (in fact, I think I 
still am, even though I don't live in Oz any more), I know it's difficult.

I can't comment on any of your other stuff, I was in the wrong 
country to attend AUUG this year, but I heard good things about it.
