This was the NSW chapter meeting, of course.

This gives the wrong impression.  Two days before the meeting, I spoke
with Peter Sandilands about whether the meeting should be restricted
to members or not.  We agreed not, but that press should probably be
excluded.  Since I intended to speak to Kieran, we agreed that we
would leave the choice up to him (with the background that he might
conceivably want them there).  He didn't.  Thus it's not really fair
to make it look like Kieran talked us into excluding the press.  His
response is pretty much in line with what we discussed.
