Patrick is the IT Manager at Carey, and has overseen the growth and
migration of the IT environment to one using the best of both Open

concentrate on what they have done and why - and share the potential
benefits and also the pitfalls to be aware of.
Some of the topics being addressed include:
- budget constraints ("you want how much!?!?!?!")
- technical constraints (e.g. curriculum, teacher perceptions)
- why we went ActiveDirectory
- Linux for mail/firewall/webserving
- OSX backup - why would you do that?
- integration of OSX in ActiveDirectory
- use of Ghost in education
- Ghostcast server
- Linux and ActiveDirectory - how much fun that isn't
- thin clients and Windows terminal server
- Open Source applications - why do they rock so hard?
- broadband - yes we have no bananas!
7:30 Migration back to the Pub for beer, soft drinks, sandwiches
Q&A, and General discussion of current IT issues.
