You mean in the early '80s? I think that's about when AUUG was
incorporated.

I don't believe we can unincorporate, as the law appears to recognize
only dissolution. I do believe as we dissolve, that we can give the
nod to an already existing and separate unincorporated body. But from
what I can tell so far, nobody has bothered to form one. At least,
I've not heard anybody on talk@ or elsewhere say "contact me" to do
so.
I've suggested that the dissolution ballot include an option
explicitly mentioning a replacement unincorporated body, and even
allowing people to put themselves forward to run such as a way of
encouraging the idea.
If you want an unincorporated body, start making one, or there won't
be one for AUUG to nod at. The existing AUUG by definition cannot be
that.
But do be aware that AUUG cannot pass assets with monetary value to an
unincorporated body.
If you desperately feel CAUUG needs its money back, you have a choice
between incorporating a separate CAUUG before AUUG's assets are all
gone, or joining and *being* the AUUG Board you seem to despise.
It looks like you can get your own ABN and submit your own tax
returns, etc., which was why CAUUG passed the money to AUUG in the
first case, or you can take over the ABN and tax returns that AUUG
already has. I'm getting to a point where I'm beginning not to care.
You may feel hurt by what's happened in the past, but I don't believe
there's any legal way forward other than what I've suggested.

I believe so.
