The board said they would be exploring options for continuing AUUG -
just evaporating in a cloud of angst is *not* the only option available.
We get one shot at this, it's important to get a good outcome on the
first attempt. No pressure :-)
The Final Ballot *should* contain more than one option. It's expensive
for us in time, energy and shekles.
I.e.
- dissolve the incorporated body, wind it up and give away all the
assets [where? a sub-ballot]
- become a 'SIG' of another body & transfer the assets [whom? sub-ballot]
- unincorporate and continue as non-fee charging body. [Can the assets
be held?]
On another note.
When the GST came in, the Canberra branch closed its bank account and
transferred $20,000 to the AUUG national account. We on the committee
judged the problems of having an ABN & submitting BAS's as more than we
wanted to take on.
The agreement with the board at the time was that CAUUG would have
access to these funds if it wanted to use them.
As the AUUG Board never rescinded this agreement, that undertaking could
probably still be enforced.
I'm sure CAUUG would not be impressed if their hard-earned pennies were
appropriated by others without consent.
CAUUG members over many years put in the time & energy to run events and
accumulate a surplus, which makes them unique I believe.
Anyone from the current Board want to comment on this?
regards
