[AUUG-Talk]: Planned web changes, for discussion

All,

I've spent some time looking at Zope, and conclude that we're using it
for these reasons:

1. Consistent look and feel of all pages;
2. Can add and edit pages via web;
2. Forums; and
3. User Directories.

I expect every member of AUUG to be able to use the shell and vimacs to
maintain the web, so item 2 seems completely unimportant. User
Directories has only been used by three users, one of which contains
cialis spam! Forums is mostly unused, and duplicates the function,
though not the form, of our mailing lists; therefore these are dispensable.

I find Zope too complicated and heavy for our needs, and plan to
dispense with it. I intend to preserve the basic look of the current
site, but there will be no users, no logging on, no User Directories and
no Forums will. I shall endeavor to keep relevant content from Forums,
but these will become articles, rather than chat topics.

Please consider whether this will meet your personal needs, and discuss
any problem that you see.

Regards,

David
