You are quite right; and I would normally be right behind you in calling
for I's to be dotted and T's to be crossed. Nor am I suggesting "ad
hoc-ery".

In a few months or a year, the only people apparently willing or able to
do anything with AUUG will be gone. Unless we have reason to suspect
actual bad faith (in which case we should point it out), it seems to me
that we should let them do their thing, and be a bit flexible about the
rules, provided the spirit of those rules is being followed.
