AUUG (the organisation for Unix, Linux and Open Source professionals)
is presenting two events in July - both aimed at professional system
administrators whose responsibilities include the management and
monitoring of Unix and Linux systems.
Firstly, AUUG presents a one day tutorial on Logging Infrastructure
and Log Analysis, presented by Abe Singer of the San Diego
Supercomputer Center.
This tutorial is of interest to anyone who is responsible for the
monitoring of IT security within a commercial, government or
education data center. You will learn how to implement an
infrastructure to collect, preserve and extract useful information
from computer operating system and application logs - ultimately to
help the system administrator facilitate security by learning more
about what is happening on their systems and network.
The tutorial will be presented in Sydney on Tuesday July 5, 2005 and
Melbourne on Tuesday July 12, 2005.
In addition, AUUG is presenting a one day System Administration
symposium in Sydney on Wednesday July 6, again aimed at professional
systems administrators and those concerned with data center
monitoring and security.
Talks will be presented by a range of industry experts from the
corporate, education and overseas. Topics to be addressed include
- automated system monitoring
- change management
- performance management
- security and threat minimisation
There is a discount available for those attending both Sydney events,
and special rates for associated organisations.
