DTrace - Vive la Revolution!
DTrace is a comprehensive dynamic tracing framework for troubleshooting
systemic problems in real time. With DTrace, administrators,
integrators, and developers can tune applications for performance and
troubleshoot production systems - all with little or no performance impact.
Tim will present the DTrace architecture and the D scripting language,
with examples and live demos that hopefully will change the lives of
those who attend.
Bio:
Tim Cook is an 8-year veteran on Sun, and has been an Operating Systems
ambassador for 7.5 of those years. A former VMS and Unix Systems
Administrator, he has experienced many of the problems that DTrace can
now provide a solution for, or provide one much more quickly. He also
has interests in amateur brewing, motorsport, music and golf.
This meeting is open to all to attend free of charge.
Cheers,
DavidP
